Tutorial in SAA's 'Paint and Create' magazine!

I am delighted to share that I have an eight-page tutorial featured in the Summer edition of SAA’s (Supporting All Artists) Paint & Create magazine.

When the SAA invited me to create a mixed media demonstration using Sennelier products, I immediately knew the perfect subject. I chose one of my favourite local landscapes – the beautiful River Avon chalk stream, just a short distance from my studio here in Salisbury.

Chalk streams have fascinated me for many years. Their crystal-clear, translucent water reveals the intricate riverbed below, with swaying aquatic plants and dancing reflections creating an ever-changing tapestry of colour and movement. They are not only breathtakingly beautiful but are also rich in wildlife, making them an endless source of inspiration for my paintings.

In the tutorial, I guide readers through my layered mixed media process, beginning with acrylics before gradually building the painting with soft pastels, oils and oil pastels. I particularly enjoy the way oils and oil pastels glide across the surface, allowing me to create expressive textures and capture the gentle movement of flowing water.

The original painting featured in the magazine has now found a new home, but I’m pleased to say that I am currently working on a new collection of chalk stream paintings. These will be available both online and in my gallery and shop very soon.
