Mural paintings can have a profound effect on individuals, communities and the public in general. Whether it’s adding personal interest to someones house, changing or enhancing an outside space in the community or transforming an area in a hotel, restaurant, cafe or public building.

Please see below some examples that I’ve completed along with more explanations and images of each project as they played out.

If you’d like a bespoke mural designed and painted either inside or outside your establishment, please contact me to discuss.

MARKET SQUARE MURAL

Recently, I have had opportunities to produce murals within the City that I live in. I am a huge advocate of public art and believe that adding artwork to spaces can enhance and brighten up an area as well as bring a sense of joy to the community.

The first project below is one that I worked on about 18 months ago. A large department store in the heart of our city closed, and hoardings were erected along its fascia. After some negotiations and a design approval, the owners of the building and the city council allowed me to paint the 32m x 3m mural. Working on such a large scale was a challenge that I thoroughly enjoyed, so along with the help of some willing students from the school I work in, we brought the countryside into the city.

THE SHAH JAHAN RESTAURANT

About 8 weeks ago, I was approached by a restaurant The Shah Jahan in Salisbury, to paint two large bespoke interior murals as part of their refurbishment. Both walls were 1.5m high, one wall was 4.5m in length, the other 9.5m in length. Their owner first approached me at the beginning of November and after a brief discussion about colours and designs, I set to work. Each bespoke wall comprises of Asian inspired patterns and shapes, some cut from a laser cutter to give a slight 3D raised effect. This was my first, of hopefully many, inside a restaurant, and I am happy to say that I, and the owners, were pleased with the results.

This project below is one which I began in September 2023 and hope to complete by December 2024. Bishop Wordsworth’s School, who I work for, have allowed me Tuesdays to work on this project which also allows me to involve my students. There is a dark and dingy walkway ,(Pepy’s Walk), leading from our main shopping centre in Salisbury, (Old George Mall), to New St, close to our wonderful Cathedral. I was asked to paint 11 plastered walls along the walkway to brighten it up. I am near to completing all 11 walls and there will be a grand opening in the next few months. I will post updates as it progresses.

The beginning of the seasonal walls.

This is my take on a tropical wall. These are walls 6 and 7 of my ongoing transformation of Pepy’s Walk in Old George Mall Salisbury. I have incorporated a few creatures as I have found that children and adults like spotting them!

This is wall 8 half completed, this space is enormous, it’s L shaped 12m long x 4m then 7m high! I decided to paint a large peacock butterfly so that people could have their photos taken in front of it therefore looking like they have wings - see image below.

A quick selfie while on the job!

This is the L shaped wall which is 12m long and 7m high in places - it’s impossible to grasp the cale of this without walking though and seeing it in the flesh.

On the final stretch, the last wall! This one is going to be more illustrative like the first wall I completed.
